FAQ’s

Tell me a bit more about yourself.

I have always loved animals, from a very early age. As a child, I grew up with a family rabbit, hamster and gerbils; along with the dogs of family members. Whilst studying for my Psychology degree I had two gerbils. After leaving university, I volunteered at a local animal charity gaining experience working with dogs. These dogs had all variety of needs, had come from a variety of backgrounds and came in all shapes, sizes and breeds. In 2010, as a family we adopted an 18 month old Jack Russell Terrier, Myrtle. I went on to work in the travel industry whilst working towards my Diploma in Dog Obedience. After a few years, I moved back into working with animals in a veterinary surgery. Again my experience with animals grew covering the care of a wider variety of animals. My time at the vets was an absolute privilege, however I made the tough decision to leave the surgery knowing I didn’t wish to continue into veterinary nursing. Starting Cosy-Bee’s Pet Services allowed me to continue working with animals and caring for people’s pets outside of the veterinary field. At the end of December 2019, my partner Mike and I adopted 4 year old Dogue de Bordeaux cross, Remington.

Dog Walking

£10.00 per hour (Mon – Fri)    or    £12.00 per hour (Sat – Sun)                                                     (plus £5.00 per additional dog in the same household)

Your dog(s) will go out for a 60 minute walk around the local area. Dog walks may include walking the coastal paths of Torbay, of which there are many, as well as Cockington Village. Some walks will be on lead, roadside walks to continue the hard work you have put in lead training your dog(s). However, it is also important that they enjoy a good playtime, with lots of games and running around off lead* when possible.

HectorMost walks are on a 1-2-1 basis which are great for those dogs who are a little more reserved when making dog friends. There are limited group walks throughout the week for those dogs who like to see their friends, which are carefully organised to ensure each dog’s safety.

FudgeWe all worry about what our dogs are up to when we aren’t around. So you will be kept up to date with their adventures with occasional photos and/or updates. You will be advised of how the walk went if you are around at the dropping home time. I completely understand how great and reassuring it is to see your dog(s) enjoying themselves.

UnaOwners are asked to provide all leads, harnesses/ haltis/ muzzles that maybe required during the walk. However, it is not necessary for you to provide any tennis balls/toys, poo bags and seat belts.

Bernie 2Please note that there are very limited weekend spaces available on a first come first serve basis between 11am – 3pm on Saturday and 11.30am – 2pm on Sunday.

*Dogs will only be taken off the lead, with the owner’s expressed consent, and only where it is safe and legal. The Walker reserves the right to not walk any dog off the lead if it is safe to do so.

Legal requirements of dog walking

It’s a legal requirement for dogs to wear a collar with a correctly engraved tag attached when in public.

Pet sitting – in your own home

Are you going away? Does your pet need pet sitting? Look no further. The pet sitting service I provide takes place in your own home!

Rather than your pet(s) moving out of their home whilst your away, I move in. I find this makes your absence a little less unsettling for them as they stay in a familiar setting, surrounded by their own things. It also takes away any worries you may have about leaving your house unattended.

All of the pet sitting services include watering plants, moving post, feeding fish, turning lights on/off and opening/closing curtains, as required.

The following services are available:

Pet sitting for small animals – £20.00 a night*

Suitable for indoor cats, house rabbits/ guinea pigs etc. Whilst you’re away, I move in to look after your pet(s). I will keep to their usual routine, as much as possible. This service includes overnight care in your own home, daily feeding, daily water changes, and litter box cleans.  All necessary equipment (litter box, litter, brushes, etc), food, treats, bowls and toys must be provided.

Hazie*Plus £5.00 per additional two cats, or per cage/hutch in the household.

Pet sitting for dogs – £30.00 a day*

Whilst you’re away, I move in to look after your dog(s). I will keep to their usual routine, as much as possible. This service includes overnight care in your own home, daily feeding, daily water changes, and two walks a day unless you advise otherwise. All necessary equipment (leads, harness, muzzles, collars, etc), food, treats, bowls and toys must be provided.

*plus £5.00 per additional dog, or additional two cats, or per cage/hutch in the household.

All of the above services include an initial meet and greet, along with plenty of love, cuddles and attention, all of which is FREE OF CHARGE.

Diet: If your pet is on a specific diet, I will continue this whilst they are in my care. I do ask that any specific food and treats are readily available and that you provide details on the quantity of food required for each meal, and how frequently they require feeding.

Medication: I am happy to give your pets any medication they require, excluding those administered via injection; but can only do so with your expressed written consent and with clear instructions regarding dosages and frequency.

Times: The prices of each service are per 24 hour period, using Midday as boundary for changeover times. Please note that is a £5.00 surcharge for bookings that end after 9pm on the last day.

Location: The prices set are based on bookings in Brixham, Paignton and Torquay. Sadly, I am unable to cover any areas outside of these, due to daily dog walking commitments. Please check that your area is serviceable to avoid disappointment.

Nervous Dogs: For those dogs who need a little extra time to get to know me prior to  booking, I am happy to offer additional visits. After the initial meeting, these are charged at £10.00 per visit. I will always provisionally block dates for a booking, however no guarantees can be made for nervous dogs, if they are not making adequate progress during the additional visits.
